Skardu, capital of Baltistan is perched 2,438 metres above sea level in the backdrop of the great peaks of the Karakorams. Balti people are a mixture of Tibetan and Caucasian stock and speak Balti, an ancient form of Tibetan. Due to the similarity of its culture, lifestyle and architecture with Tibet, Baltistan is also known as the "Tibet-e-Khurd" (Little Tibet).Skardu, famous for climbing, mountaineering all around the world. Along with this, Skardu host the second Highest mountain of World and Pakistan Highest mountain, K2 (8,611 m). Shangrila Lake is a mesmerizing artificial lake with crystal clear water that comes from the upper Kachura Lake.Shangri-La is a fictional place in the Kunlun Mountains (昆仑山) described in the 1933 novel Lost Horizon by English author James Hilton. Hilton describes Shangri-La as a mystical, harmonious valley, gently guided from a lamasery, enclosed in the western end of the Kunlun Mountains.The Shangrila Lake second amongst the most beautiful lakes of Pakistan. The lake is also known as “Lower Kachura Lake” and is located at a drive of about 20 minutes from Skardu town. The lake is a part of the Shangrila resort and is a popular tourist destination.The mythical land of Shangri-La is the novelist James Hilton's fictional account of the legendary Tibetan paradise Shambala. In Hilton's 1933 novel, Lost Horizon, he changes the name of the paradise to Shangri-La. This lost Tibetan paradise is a valley cut off from the world.

Satpara Lake & Dam, Skardu Valley

Satpara Lake is situated at a height of 2,636 meters 8,650 feet above sea level and is spread over an area of 2.5 km². Satpara Lake also called “Sadpara Lake”. Satpara Lake is a natural lake near Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, which supplies water to Skardu Valley. It is fed by the Satpara Stream. Since 2003, Satpara Dam is being constructed downstream of the lake and, upon completion, will enlarge the size of Satpara Lake.Satpara Lake is sometimes called “Sadpara Lake”. Satpara Lake supply natural and fresh water to the Skardu valley. Tourists can enjoy fishing and boating on Satpara Lake. The Satpara dam project is built on Satpara Lake. The height of the dam is 128 ft. Satpara Lake is considered as the most attractive lake among tourists.Local people believe that there is a gold mine in the bottom of the lake so that’s why its water is shining in the day time. Satpara Lake has an awe-inspiring view. Rowing, Motor boating, and fishing can also do at the lake. Satpara Lake is considered as the charming lake due to its marvelous and magnificent beauty.This lake is feed by the Satpara Stream which actually has its origination in Deosai Plains. A dam has been constructed on this lake named, Satpara Dam to fulfill the agricultural water requirement of the Skardu City. There is a small desert island in the middle of the lake fully surrounded by the water and a PTDC Motel on side but it is said that after completion of the dam the island and the Motel would be drowned in water.

Deosai National Park,Skardu Valley

Deosai National Park is considered to be the second-highest plateau in the world at an elevation of around 13,500 feet above sea level. Located in Skardu District, it is also one of the most popular tourist attractions of Gilgit Baltistan. The weather in quite unpredictable here, sometimes it starts snowing in summer.As the natural habitat of the Himalayan Brown Bear, Deosai National Park was established in 1993 with the aim to protect the endangered species nestled here from poachers and hunters. It is a high-altitude plain with the word ‘Deosai’ literally translating into ‘The Land of Giants’. The park is spread over approximately 3,000 square kilometres, encompassing a mix of hills, mountains, plains, plateaus, streams, rivers, and lakes.

Fairy Meadows, Skardu Valley

Fairy Meadows is located in the heart of beautiful North Pakistan. Fairy Meadows is known as the ninth-largest mountain in the world, Nanga Parbat, and its beautiful lush green plateau is located in Diamer District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Additionally, this place can enjoy the animation of the second highest mountain in Pakistan, namely Nanga Parbat Mountain at 8,126 meters above sea level. Because of her extraordinary charm, Australian climber Hermann Ball named it “Fairy Meadows” in 1953.Fairy Meadows is located in the heart of beautiful North Pakistan.
